AI Assist for Jira Service Management is designed to help agents resolve customer requests faster and more efficiently with the help of OpenAI's ChatGPT. Follow the simple steps below to get started, or watch the short video walkthrough

Confirm OpenAI API Key Configuration
Before you can use AI Assist, ensure that your project admin has entered a valid OpenAI API key in the project's settings. If you cannot access AI Assist, contact your project admin for assistance.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Access AI Assist within Customer Requests
    When viewing a customer request, you can access AI Assist in the left sidebar. Look for the "AI Assist: Request AI Assistance" option and click on it.

  2. Customize AI Assist Request
    A form will appear, allowing you to select which fields to include in the AI Assist request. By default, the description and summary will be included, along with any other non-empty text fields. Check or uncheck the boxes as needed.

  3. Provide Additional Context (Optional)
    Use the text field to provide more context or instructions for the AI Assist request. This can help improve the accuracy and relevance of the AI-generated response. For a list of possible instructions, check out

  4. Submit AI Assist Request
    Click on the "AI Assist" button to send your request to ChatGPT. AI Assist will process the request and display the AI-generated response and the cost associated with it.

  5. Review and Edit AI Response
    You can review and edit the AI-generated response as needed. Once you are satisfied with the response, you can choose to add it as an internal note or share it directly with the customer.
